Gounsa Temple (Uiseong)

Please note that following a forest fire in March 2025, several structures, including Yeonsujeon Hall and Gaunru Pavilion, were destroyed. Founded in 681 by Monk Uisang, Gounsa Temple was later renamed in honor of scholar Choe Chi-won, who studied here. The temple served as a strategic base for monk soldiers during the Imjin War and was a major center for patriotic Buddhism during the colonial period. It houses various cultural heritage sites and offers Templestay and temple food cooking classes.
